If you're anything like me, you probably spend a fair amount of time watching TV shows. I LOVE Netflix and spend entirely too much time on it. I've compiled a list of some of the shows I've been watching recently that are very entertaining. I've tried to keep it to recently added shows that you may not have seen yet (because if you haven't watched One Tree Hill or Gossip Girl yet, you probably already know that you should!). So if you're looking for some new suggestions, check out these shows!
'Secret Princes' chronicles the adventures of four members of international nobility as they leave their royal homes to live, work and (hopefully) find love in America. They go undercover as ordinary locals in Atlanta, Georgia during the first season and in Austin, TX during the second. The "princes" on the show are actually pretty likeable and fun to watch, and it's pretty interesting to watch their integration into life in the Southern states.
Rules of Engagement
Are you a fan of sitcoms like Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, Seinfeld, and Two and a Half Men? Then you need to check out this one! 'Rules of Engagement' ran on CBS from 2007 to 2013 (yet somehow I managed to never hear of it) about two couples and their single friend. They deal with the complications of dating, commitment and marriage, and the show examines the various stages of different relationships- the long-term couple, the engaged sweethearts, and their still-single friends. The show is light-hearted and funny, and you're sure to have a good time watching all 7 seasons.
Beauty & The Beast
This series is very loosely inspired by the 1987 series of the same name from CBS. Detective Catherine Chandler witnesses her mother being shot when she is saved from the murderers by a supposed beast. Nine years later, a case leads her to discover that Vincent Keller, an ex-soldier who was believed to have been killed in action during military service, is actually alive. She gets to know him and finds out more about her mother's murder and about who Vincent really his. Of course, that's probably fairly obvious to you at this point- and the show builds off of the love that they develop for each other. The classic 'Beauty and the Beast' story has been used in many movies and television series at this point, but if you're a sucker for it than you'll probably really enjoy this one. If you've seen 'Beastly' with Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer, that's the spinoff that this series most closely resembles in my opinion.
Friday Night Lights
Friday Night Lights was huge during it's five-season run, but I know plenty of people who haven't seen it yet. If you haven't, don't be put off by the fact that it's a "football show"- you don't have to be a football fan to love it (I'm certainly not)! The show is about the trials and tribulations of small town Texas football players and their friends, family, and coaching staff. You'll fall in love with the characters (especially Coach Taylor and Tami), and the series will definitely give you "the feels" (I don't like that term, but it's the best way I can explain it, haha).
Another "oldie but goodie"! Ugly Betty follows Betty Suarez, a quirky 22 year-old Mexican American woman from Queens who is sorely lacking in fashion sense. She is bold, good-hearted and lightly naive, and is thrust into a different world when she lands a job at Mode, a trendy high-fashion magazine based in Manhattan. This show is funny, surprising, and features tons of great actors and guest stars (including AnnaLynne McCord, Lindsay Lohan, Gabrielle Union, and Vera Wang). The show was pretty popular from 2006 to 2009 and has gained somewhat of a cult following since it ended. All four seasons are available on Netflix, and the 85 episode line-up will entertain you for hours and hours.
I remember when Nikita was airing on CW and I totally wrote it off. But when I started watching the series on Netflix last year I think I (sadly enough) watched all 73 episodes in about 3 weeks. I totally fell in love with the show the moment Shane West (from A Walk to Remember) popped on the screen. The show is about Nikita, a rogue agent who escaped a secret government-funded organization known as Division and, after a 3-year hiding period, is back to bring down the organization.
Once Upon a Time (Season 3)
In case you haven't started 'Once Upon a Time' yet, the show is a fairytale drama series that takes place in the fictional town of Storybrooke, where the residents are actually characters from various fairytales transported to the real world and robbed of their memories by a powerful curse. If you love fairytales like Snow White, Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, and a little bit of mystery and drama, chances are you'll love it. If you've already seen seasons 1 and 2, then consider this a heads up that season 3 was recently added!
Revenge (Season 3)
I know a lot of people have been watching Revenge since the beginning, but I love the show so much I had to put it on the list. Season 3 was added just recently added, too, so I'm looking forward to catching up on that. Revenge is about the daughter of a framed executive who makes it her mission to infiltrate the upper-Hamptons society and exact revenge on the people who set her father up. It's filled with many twists and turns and it's always a surprise to see how far Emily will go to get 'revenge'.
I hope this guys gave you some good suggestions for new shows to watch, and if you have any favorites that aren't on the list feel free to leave them in the comments! I'm always looking for new shows to fall in love with so I'd love to hear your suggestions!
