We all want tips and tricks that are both quick and affordable to do. It's sometimes hard to find time to keep up with our beauty routines, and a lot of products can get really expensive! Here are 10 awesome beauty tips that will keep you looking beautiful on a budget.
1. Drink as much water as you can
I can practically hear the groans as I type this (we've all heard this a million times by now), but let's just get it out of the way first. No matter how many beauty tips and tricks you implement, this one is the biggest game-changer. Drinking as much water as possible every single day keeps your skin and hair healthy and hydrated and will also help you feel great on the inside!
Vasline is great and super cheap- there seriously must be over a hundred uses for the stuff. Some awesome ways you can use it in your beauty routine are as lip balm, smear it over the lips and eye area at night (Jennifer Aniston has used Vaseline on the eyes for years!), remove eye makeup with it, use around the hairline before dying your hair to prevent stains, the list goes on. You can use it as a topical moisturizer pretty much anywhere and it's great to prevent infections on open wounds and to prevent stains from things like nail polish and self tanner.
3. Use bronzer and baby powder to keep oily hair at bay
If you're brunette, you can apply bronzer on your oily roots (and if you're blonde, baby powder), and it'll temporarily disguise the oils and make your hair look fresher! Some inexpensive dry shampoos that are awesome are the Suave Keratin-infused dry shampoo and the Pantene Original Fresh dry shampoo; these work better but the powders will work in a pinch!
4. Keep Up with Basic Skincare
Everyone should have some type of basic skincare routine- consistency is key! This should at least include cleansing and moisturizing, and you can also add toner (try a mix of 1/2 apple cider vinegar and 1/2 water for a quick at-home DIY toner), spot treatments and serums for added benefits! And make sure you always remove your makeup before bed- that one's huge for keeping your skin flawless and healthy.
Visine is obviously great for making your eyes brighter and whiter (that's what it's made for, after all), but it's also great for blemishes! Put a couple drops of Visine on red pimples and it'll reduce the redness almost instantly!
6. Tame frizz with moisturizer and dryer sheets
If you get frizz or flyway hairs, you can either use a small amount of moisturizer on the strays or rub a dryer sheet over your hair! The dryer sheets help reduce static, which a lot of us get in our hair, and the moisturizer temporarily weighs the strands down to give a sleeker look.
7. Make Your Own Makeup
I actually wrote a post on ways to make your own makeup (including concealer, mascara, cheek stains and chocolate bronzer), and that's definitely a frugal way to get beautiful! Most of the instructions call for either makeup you already have or ingredients that are very inexpensive and can be used in tons of other DIYs as well! So check that out and give some of them a shot so you can save some money on makeup!
8. Put Your Fragrance in the Right Place
Putting fragrance on the right spots can help it last longer and smell stronger. Apply perfume to the inner wrists, the back of the neck, the inner elbows and on the base of the throat. You can also try spritzing it on your clothes before you put them on, because it won't wear off as quickly on the fabric (but be careful on light-colored delicate fabric because some perfumes will stain).
9. Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatments
Most of us suffer from dry, damaged hair and struggle to keep it looking smooth and healthy. Make sure to use a deep conditioner at least once a week and try to shampoo less frequently if you can get away with it. Try oils treatments too- cover your hair with coconut or olive oil and leave on for about 30 minutes before rinsing and your hair will be soft and moisturized.
You've probably heard that antioxidants are great for your skin. You can use them both internally and externally, either through food and drink or skin treatments. Some popular food sources of antioxidants are tea, blueberries, dark chocolate, coffee, fish and vegetables!
