Money Saving Beauty Tips

by - August 02, 2018

Hi everyone! So I love trying new beauty products but I'm all about saving money whenever possible. This post will cover some of my favorite ways to save money on beauty products so you can looks great on a budget! I hope these tips help you, and please let me know if you have any tips that save you money so I can add them here!

Sign Up for Mailing Lists for Your Favorite Brands

A great way to keep track of deals and sales from your favorite brands, visit their website and sign up for marketing e-mails! They'll send you offers and sales that are happening now, so you can stock up on your favorite products and try new ones while they're still discounted!

Get the Most from Your Favorite Products

Remove sifters and from your favorite products to make sure you get every last bit of product out of the container. This works for concealers, foundations, lip glosses and more!

Coupons and Sales

When it's time to purchase or re-purchase new beauty products, wait for sales! Some great stores to look at are Dermstore, Ulta, and Sephora. Dermstore has an annual friends & family sale in the fall with all products at 20% off. They carry many high end brands and most of the products are focused on skin care- you can get Sunday Riley, Pixi, First Aid Beauty and more! Sephora also has 2 annual sales- one in the spring, and one in the fall. The fall sale has a higher discount than in the spring, but in both "VIB" sales, you can get a discount on the entire store. Ulta has occasional sales with daily deals on hair products, skin and makeup products, and more. Visit ulta.com and check out their weekly ad to see what sales are currently happening.

For drugstore items, you can use manufacturer coupons at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Target, etc. For Target, make sure to check out the Cartwheel app where you can get Target coupons on tons of different products. Check weekly ads at Walgreens, CVS and other drugstores to find out what brands and products are on sale each week.

Free Samples

Ulta and Sephora will both give free samples upon request. If you want to try a new product before splurging, Sephora will fill a container with a few days worth of product for you to test at home. Ulta has samples of select products and you can ask for as many of each as you want, within reason.

Keep an eye on money-saving blogs like FreeStuffFinder.com as they occasionally post notifications when brands are doing samples by mail. I have used this method to receive free face masks, shampoo and conditioner amongst other products completely free by requesting them directly from the company.

DIY Your Own Products

A great way to save money on products is to make them yourself! This is also a great way to help eliminate toxic ingredients from your beauty routing. I'm personally trying to make the switch to non-toxic products wherever possible and these are some of my favorite DIY products that I've made so far!

Dry Shampoo

This one only takes 2 ingredients! To start, choose a base of either cornstarch or blended oatmeal (grind to a fine powder). Mix it with equal parts of a color ingredient. For brown hair, use cocoa powder. Black hair, use charcoal powder. Red hair, try cinnamon, and for blondes, use arrowroot powder. You can also try adding essential oils such as peppermint, eucalyptus, or lemongrass for a fresh scent! To use this dry shampoo, I recommend applying to roots with a fluffy powder brush or with your fingers. Allow it to soak up the oils in your hair and then work it in with your fingers. For optimal results, apply before the hair is very oily as it will work to prevent the oil in the first place.

Body Scrub

Sugar scrubs are great for your skin because they are so moisturizing and exfoliating! Mix together half a cup of granulated sugar, white or brown, with half a cup of olive oil or coconut oil, and whatever essential oil you prefer (vanilla extract works great too). Pour the mixture into a wide mouth mason jar and store it in your shower for up to 2 months!

Makeup Remover

Cleansing oils are very popular recently as makeup removers because they get everything off without being harsh on your skin. You can skip the pricey products though and try coconut oil! It is anti-bacterial, anti-yeast and will moisturize your skin at the same time. Simply rub the coconut oil in your hands so it turns into a liquid, gently rub onto your skin, and rinse away with warm water.

Ebates

Last but not least, on all online beauty purchase, make sure to check out Ebates! Simply search for the store you will be buying from, see the amount of cash back you will get, click 'Shop Now' and it will take you to the website and track your purchases. You will receive a check with your cash back amount once every quarter and can keep track of your progress on your profile.
