DIY Vintage Map Decor

Hello everyone! Today's post is on how to make this cool vintage-style wall art featuring a washed-out print of an old map. I will post a link to the map that I had printed out in order to complete this project - it is not copyright and free for personal use.

Here's what you will need:
-Poster size printout of a map (Mine was 20"x30", but you can make it larger or smaller)
-Around 3 ft of twine (I used Gardener's Twine Twist Jute)
-2 pieces of General Purpose Stain Grade Stop, 7/16" x 1 3/8", each cut to 1" more than the top and bottom side of your map, this can be purchased at Home Depot
-Minswax Wood Stain in Dark Walnut or your choice of color
-2 Small Eyehooks  (I purchase a picture hanging kit from the Dollar Tree that had these in it)
-Staple Gun
-Sandpaper

Directions:

1. Sand and stain the wood with your choice of wood stain.

2. Screw in the eyehooks along the thin side of one of the pieces of wood, about 1" from the edge.

3. Use a staple gun to staple the poster to the wood. You want to place the wood down with the eyehooks facing outward and lay the poster on top of the wood, with the print facing the ground. Make sure you are stapling the top side of the map to the piece with the eyehooks on it.

4. Tie one end of the twine to each of the eyehooks and cut off the excess.

5. You're done! Hang it up.
