8 Fall Fashion Trends 2014

by - October 10, 2014

Fall is just around the corner, and back to school shopping is the perfect time to pick up a few things that you'll be able to use to keep up with the fall trends. Here are 8 fall fashion trends for 2014 that are fun and easy to wear.

1. Oversize, Chunky-Knit Sweaters

Look for sweaters that are textured, chunky and oversized. Sweaters are always big during the fall seasons (for obvious reasons), and you'll be able to wear them for years to come. Pair them with skinny jeans or leggings and a pair of boots for a simple-yet-stylish look.

2. Black and White

Black and white has been big for several seasons now (it was huge in the spring), and it's still going strong. You could take the trend all the way with an outfit that's completely black and white or add some black and white accessories to a monochrome outfit for a subtle touch of this chic color-pairing.

3. Midi Skirts

Midi skirts are the new "it" skirt length, and generally hit at or just-below the knee. You can wear it with a fitted top tucked in for a simple, figure-flattering look or with a boxy crop top for a super-trendy outfit.

4. Motorcycle Jackets

Motorcycle jackets are great for every season, but designers are especially loving them this fall. They're great for layering over dresses and tops to create a cool, edgy look that anyone can pull off. The jackets here are simple and faux-leather, but mixed-materials are also going to be big this season.

5. Cool Ankle Booties

Booties have really gained popularity over the past few years, and for good reason! The heeled booties are much more comfortable than a pair of pumps but give you the same boost in height. This season, look for booties with a touch of hardware or cool things like tassels and fringe.

6. Bold Prints

Big, bold patterns are a surefire way to make a statement this season, and you're definitely going to see them all over the place. You could go all out with printed dresses or pants, or add a patterned scarf or a top to an otherwise-simple outfit.

7. Sheer Fabrics

Sheer fabrics are another trend that's been big for several seasons and isn't going away anytime soon. Wear them over a cute bralette, or wear a camisole underneath for more coverage.

8. Slouchy Bags

Slouchy bags were huge a few years ago and they're definitely making a comeback this fall. Bucket bags in particular are become wildly popular and are great for adding an eye-catching element to your outfit.
